What Services Do ACA Marketplace Plans Cover
ACA marketplace plans provide comprehensive coverage, ensuring access to a wide range of essential health benefits. These benefits include emergency services, hospitalization, maternity and newborn care, mental health services, and prescription drugs.
Additionally, ACA plans cover preventive services without out-of-pocket costs for enrollees, making it easier to maintain good health and catch potential issues early.
These essential health benefits provide necessary coverage for individuals and families, addressing various healthcare needs without lifetime or annual limits.
Note that these requirements exclude grandfathered plans existing before the ACA was enacted.
Pre-existing conditions
The ACA significantly protects individuals with pre-existing conditions. Under the ACA, health plans cannot deny coverage or charge higher premiums based on pre-existing health conditions. This ensures that individuals with prior health issues can obtain affordable insurance without worrying about being excluded from necessary healthcare services.
For those unable to obtain health insurance due to medical conditions, the Comprehensive Health Association of North Dakota (CHAND) offers an alternative. Applicants must be North Dakota residents for at least six months and provide proof of being declined coverage by at least one insurer.
CHAND premiums cannot exceed 135% of the average rates charged by the five largest insurers in North Dakota.
